With so many camera buds moving to LA and recently multiple talks coming up about “making it” I thought I would address my feelings on the matter. 

I’ve been told on set with LA folks that “there’s one hundred times the work there!” and “female DPs are much more common.”

One thing I’ve really learned is that everyone who doesn’t work in the industry has a skewed view of “making it.”

To most good filmmakers, there’s no end goal or mecca. We’re making this, making that, planning on making this, wishing we could make that. It’s our life, our job, our expression. Not a pipe dream of “I made it in Hollywood”. That kind of thinking prevents good work. 

As of now, I like NYC.  Making this, making that.
